With the old Council Approval system removed, we now provide you with Ofqual Recognised Qualifications, that fully adhere to the recommendations set out in the EYFS for 6 & 12 hour courses. The 6 & 12 hour courses below are based on in-house training where we come to you, should you wish to join in on one of our open courses, please use the following link: Course Finder Page
These courses have been offered since April 2012. They are not certificated by an awarding body but the skills learned are taught by the same experienced trainers that train our other Paediatric courses below. These are designed mainly for new or conscientious parents that want to know what to do in an emergency. Our ‘A Course’ is all about possible Airway issues, so covers the Recovery Position, CPR & Choking and our ‘B Course’ is all about Bleeding, Burns and Broken Bones. These courses are a great introduction into paediatric first aid and are our first courses to be offered in your own home. An attendance certificate from 1st ACT Ltd can be provided upon request.
These courses have only been offered since April 2013. Like our 2 hour courses above they are not certificated via our awarding body but the skills learned are taught by the same experienced trainers as our other Paediatric courses. These are designed as a refresher for Childminders who have a current 12 hour certificate but wish to refresh their knowledge prior to the 3 year point. The syllabus is a combination of both the A Course and the B Course mentioned above. These courses can also be used as introduction into paediatric first aid for Contentious Parents. An attendance certificate from 1st ACT can be provided upon request.
This course is now the minimum requirement for all staff that wish to count towards your ratios in a Nuresry/Preschool setting. It matches the first 6 hours of the 12 hour course, meaning this can be also be used as 'recorded prior learning' should staff wish to do the full course (within 6 weeks). It equips the student to be confident in the Recovery Position, CPR, Major Bleeds and Choking for Children & Infants as well as teaching how to deal with common childhood accidents such as nose bleeds, splinters, minor cuts & bruises. The new 2017 regulations (RQF) mean that AED pad placement and use, is now incorporated into this course. A multiple choice paper & practical assessments are needed to gain the certification.
